So the last night of the show....
we loaded out in the pouring rain... typical..
..drove the van in the rain to Indianapolis...3+ hours..
..got lost... then pulled over by highway patrol...
"They throw people in jail 'round here for driving that fast"
not only was I incredibly lost it the dark and rain,
....I was speeding....tsk.. I was only doing 85... lucky for me
I have a great smile... and the cop was from LA.
No citation!!! SWEEEET!
Then he tries to help me get unlost, only to get
me more lost..
'cause you can't get there from here.
All roads lead to the airport

Yep, tomorrow is the last day of the show....
I am soooo excited...
....I love load out.....
How fast can I push this cart of crap till it crashes?
..must not be last vendor out....
...this is definately not going to make that bruise feel any better...
Anyways, tomorrow is the day I earn my dayrate......
.....I'll try hard as hell to sell EVERYTHING....
.....Then what ever is left... chuck in a box..
toss in truck and DRIVE!!!!!!
....must be in Indianapolis before Monday morn.....
get on airplane
insert earplugs, put on eye mask... pull hoodie over head..
sleeeeeeeeep, pretend that it's ok to be in an airplane..
try not to get all germ freaky...
need to kiss/smell my children
oh yeah, and brush their hair
It takes me two days to acclimate to my new surroundings..
not to get lost in the habitrail of hallways to the facility...
not popping awake in total panic confusion....
not getting burned/frozen by the crappy shower....
most of all.... where to find a fountain soda...
I have been having a great time talking it up with the ladies....
I have even decided to buy a KIT to
make my sisters wedding quilt, finally..
so unlike me
I have a bruise on my calf the size of a fist...
ouch!
I hope it goes away soon.... must get some tiger balm...
So tomorrow is the big push...
I am selling everything to the floor....
the hard sell....
'cause once its gone, it's gone for good!
just like me
So I started a job on Tuesday
...fly to Indianapolis....
pack vehicles with fabric....
drive to Ohara airport (Chicago)....
setup for a quilt show.
It is so crazy... I miss my kids TERRIBLY!!
and the work is hard and chaotic...
Why oh why ?
well, sometimes I feel like a normal person
in that, I have a skill and get paid to use it.
What skill could I be talking about?
Why the skill of bullshit!
It just happens that i know a lot of bullshit
about fabric, quilts and large quilt shows.
I finished the guild show on Sunday....
It was probably one of the worst show I have
ever been part of.
Bickering and in fighting.
Even now that the show is over, they are still pointing the finger
and persecuting the innocent.
It's a volunteer show...
what the hell is the expectation?
They are lucky we could even pull it off.
Well... he came home..
sans sickness, facial bruises or fines
I must rant....
what is it with getting back to normal?
My man is great, no doubt, but man is he a mess
THE minute he gets home, it is a total
explosion of dirty clothes, spent magazines and
assorted male paraphernalia....
wallet, watch... knives.....
I would take a cool picture of his crap but
sigh.... I have lost my camera.....
I have a greater sense of lose regarding the
content on the memory card....
a great little clip of Mira talking...
sign.. I wish I could call it.... like
a lost cell phone.
SOOOOOOOOO, if anyone reading this needs
$500.00 of design/marketing work
let me know
I have two days to get this piece finished and no label done...
shit.
I cant find my digital camera....
Shit!
my brain hurts
My deepest regards go to his family...
Mikey and I saw him several times, it was
kind of our thing.
I remember seeing him in San Francisco, in 1998 (?)
He had just published Impossible Vacation and was
reading excerpts. Everyone who attended received
a signed copy of the book.
It was magical.... he was so close sitting on stage in
this tiny theater.... I will never forget how enthralling
it was just to hear him speak.
Here is a article about him.
Last night we all went out....
three girls and Daddy
We went to dinner at our local sushi restaurant, Ai
it was ggrgrrrreat!
Then we went downtown to this wonderful gallery opening
for Glen E. Friedman - The Idealist
the photography was well crafted and beautifully printed
my personal favorites were of
Henry Rollins, i just freakin' love him
Rumor had it, that he was going to be there....
but not till later...
definately past the girls bedtime....
oh well, it was great all around regardless.
I did meet Wil Wheaton!
That was really cool, glad I had on makeup and new shoes!
Always prepared...
cause it's gonna change
i hope to be blogging again soon,
and with more visual stimulation than the
waving penis.
quick update:
if any of you know how to sew I sure could use
some construction help in the talent
show costumes.
